The health of the players, coaches, fans, umpires and staff are our primary focus and priority. After meeting with park and school officials today, and in complying with the new executive order issued by the Governor regarding the COVID-19 virus, we have cancelled this weekend’s March Madness tournament at the Hood View Complex and Milwaukie High School. We will be in touch about refund and credit options in the next few days. As changes are occurring rapidly, decisions on future events will be made soon.
None of the following are allowed in either park:
This includes players and spectators.
- Sunflower seeds or other shelled nuts.
- Chewing gum.
- Smoking or tobacco products of any kind.
- No Metal Cleats allowed for any age divisions.
Please help us keep the dugouts and fields clean so that we can continue to use this park. Park Staff and Nations Staff will check dugouts during and after each game.
Tournament Apparel and Souvenirs: NW Nations will have t-shirts, hoodies, beanies, caps, necklaces etc. available to purchase. Cash or credit card accepted.
-Concessions will be available at the complex and the snack shack at Hood View is one of the better ones. Give them a try!
-We are working on getting concessions at the Milwaukie HS Fields.
-You are welcome to bring food and non-alcoholic drinks into the park.
-NW Nations does not charge entrance fees at our tournaments, come out and watch!
-Well behaved and attended dogs on a leash are welcome.
Game locations: We will be using two locations for games this weekend, please double-check the schedule for your game location. All fields are full artificial turf.

Weather: We are playing all games on artificial turf, so plan on playing! If we were to experience weather that was determined by the tournament director to be severe enough to pose a safety concern, we could delay or shorten games until the weather improved. Examples could be: Snow/Ice, thunderstorms or a very heavy downpour. If this were to occur, we would post updates on the NW Nations/ Tourney Machine app.
NW Nations Weather Line: (503) 799-5737: If we happen to be subject to extreme weather conditions this weekend, you can call the NW Nations Weather line for updates. Please restrict the calls to one person per team so that everyone can get through if needed. Initial updates are recorded at 6:45 AM each day, subsequent updates will be added as needed.
Shelters: Their is limited shelter at the park for fans. The dugouts are covered. You are welcome and encouraged to bring your own tent or tarps, just try to be courteous in your placement not to block walking paths or the view of other fans.
Coats/Jackets: Wearing whatever is necessary over the top of the uniform in order to be comfortable is fine with us, please work with the scorekeepers if a player does not have numbers showing.
Heaters: Some fans and teams utilize portable heating devices during these early tournaments. These are allowed at this complex, just make sure they are safe and be careful in their use. No open flame devices allowed.
Bat/Ball Safety: The umpires will have towels for baseballs and we will rotate balls. Teams can help by having towels to dry your bat grips and keeping bats under cover in the dugout when not in use, if raining.
Parking: Parking is allowed in designated parking areas only. Please do not park along the south side of SE Stadium Way, or risk a parking ticket. Parking is allowed at the schools across from the complex too.
RV Parking: RV parking is allowed in outer parking areas or in the Rock Creek Middle School parking lot directly south of the complex. Sorry, overnight parking is not allowed at the park or the schools.
Game Score Updates: We will be updating game scores throughout the day on the tournament app and on our website as games are completed. Please click here for updated game scores.

Scheduling: NW Nations makes every attempt to keep the tournament on schedule, on occasion due to circumstances this is not possible. Directors reserve the right to change any game time, playing field or dates or to make other changes necessary to conduct the tournament.
When circumstances arise where we can start a game early throughout the day, teams must be prepared to start up to 20 minutes before their scheduled game time, this is to keep the tournament moving along at all times.
NW Nations Baseball expects good sportsmanship from players, coaches and spectators before, during, and after all events.
Measures for Reducing Coronavirus Risk at Tournaments
With current concerns regarding the coronavirus, here are some suggestions for the ball park this weekend. Please talk to your players and fans about this, as we would like to do all we can to keep everyone well.
We are implementing the following policy going forward that the coaches and parents can help out with reminding the players: At all of our events, post-game handshake lines will be banned. We encourage everyone to use common sense and avoid unnecessary touching, hugging, handshakes, etc.
Wash Your Hands Often When you do, wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. We will make sure that we are communicating with the park staff about checking the restrooms often to keep them well stocked with soap.
Not Feeling Well? If any coaches, players or fans are not feeling well, they should stay home.
Cover Up Sneezes and Coughs Sneeze or cough into your bent elbow, not your hands. It’s known as the “Dracula sneeze,” as in a vampire shielding his face with his arm.
Don’t forget the basics, courtesy of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
- If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation!
Team Check-in: Please check in prior to your first game at the tournament tent at your complex and receive your tournament packet.
Birth Certificates: Please make sure that you have copies of birth certificates for all players with you at the fields.
Dugouts are not assigned; the first team to arrive has choice of dugouts.
Warm-ups: The park will open at 6:45 AM both Saturday and Sunday. Teams playing the first games of the day can warm up on the outfield of the field that they will be playing on. Do not plan on warming up on the fields during the day as we will make every effort to stay on schedule. No taking infield allowed for tournament play. There is a turf area behind the concessions building that teams can warm up on.
Line-Up Cards: Each team is expected to present a line-up card to the plate umpire at the pregame conference.
Modified Saturday Game Times: We were recently informed that Hood View Park has changed their policy regarding how late the lights can be on at the park this season. Therefore we had to make a slight adjustment to the length of our games this weekend to make sure that we are able to complete all game before the lights are turned off. Each game on Saturday will be 5 minutes less than our standard game length. Coaches and teams can help by hustling on and off between innings. Thanks for your flexibility and understanding. Sunday game lengths will be standard.
Game Balls: NW Nations will be supplying all game balls.
Portable Mounds: All divisions will utilize portable mounds.
Pitching Charts: Pitching Charts will be in your coach packet that you will receive at check-in. Please keep track of how many outs each of your pitchers throws and turn your chart in at the end of each day.
Post Game: At the end of your game please be considerate and vacate your dugout promptly. Team meetings need to take place outside the fences.
NW Nations Bat Rules: Umpires and tournament staff will be checking bats for compliance prior to games throughout the tournament.
9u-13u Age Divisions: No bat size restrictions. All Bats must be certified by the manufacturer to meet a Bat Performance Factor of 1.15 or less and must bear the BPF 1.15 stamp or the USA Bat Stamp.
14u Division: Only (-3) and (-5 ) bats are allowed. All (-5) bats must bear the BPF 1.15 stamp or the new USA Bat stamp. All (-3) bats must be BBCOR approved and bear the BBCOR stamp.
Metal Cleats: Absolutely no metal cleats are allowed in the complex, thanks for your cooperation. Molded rubber cleats are allowed and turf or tennis shoes are also recommended on the turf fields.
To preserve and maintain the highest quality facility possible and for the safety of participants, spectators and visitors, the following items/activities are prohibited inside the Hood View Park complex at all times:
- Use of stakes on the turf fields for pop-up nets, tents, or canopies
- Outside alcoholic beverages (no alcoholic beverages will be sold at youth events)
